The Maltese Cross CD has been in the works for several years. This firefighting music CD contains 8 original songs and an instrumental which try to capture the “spirit and essence of the Fire Service.” Each firefighter song has a story behind it, as to why it was written or what inspired it. The composer, Lieutenant Edward J. Murphy, Jr., is a veteran of the Lawrence, Massachusetts Fire Department. The L.F.D. is a paid Fire Department of 140 members located in the Northeast part of Massachusetts just south of New Hampshire. In addition to being a firefighter, I am also a musician. As a 27 year veteran of the profession who is proud of what we do, I have often felt compelled to create music about what it is to be a firefighter. After working several years (on and off) to complete this firefighting music project, it is finally finished.

The Maltese Cross is a firefighter music CD containing 8 original songs as well as an Amazing Grace instrumental that aim to capture the spirit and essence of the Fire Service. These are the 9 firefighter songs about the job and us.
